The resort will hold elevated cabins, twenty-four treehouses and 338 rooms. According to Mandai Park Holdings, the twenty-four treehouses will be designed to mirror seed pods and will be homed amid the area’s trees.
Despite its close proximity to the wildlife, efforts to preserve the environment and limit undesirable human-animal interaction, the resort will be surrounded by a 2m barrier. Paths will also be equipped with low-level lighting to prevent guests from wandering or stumbling into the rainforest.
Apart from restricting interactions, the resort has taken measures to ensure minimal disruption to the environment with the help of sustainable design.
Keeping the needs of local animals in mind, an acoustic consultant has been recruited to prevent noise pollution from the resort, protecting the nocturnal animals. The resort will also be equipped with solar panels and mixed-mode air-conditioning while the resort’s treehouses will be outfitted with passive displacement ventilation – cooling the air with chilled water in place of the usual compressor units found in air-conditioners.

At the same time, the neighbouring Central Catchment Nature Reserve will also see additional changes to protect the wildlife. The Nature Reserve will be welcoming an eco-bridge by the end of 2019, creating a safe passage for animals to move between the North and South ends. While the speed limit along Mandai Lake Road is said to be reduced to minimise and prevent avoidable accidents.
Set to open in 2023, live your wildest dreams in this eco-resort. From sleeping amongst the trees, personal interactions with the Zoo’s animals and almost unprecedented access to local wildlife, expect an authentic wildlife resort experience mixed with the additional perks of learning and luxury.
